Water crossings…protecting gearboxes and diffs from rust!!
Flood damaged machinery is an enormous cost to not only farmers & miners, but also the general public. Four wheel drives also need rust protection for gearboxes and diffs when fording creeks, etc.
Recent widespread flooding highlights the need to protect expensive vehicle & machinery components from rust, due to water entry into engines, transmissions, final drives and hydraulics. Treatment of all these lubricated components with Cost Effective Maintenance’s AW10 Antiwear, will provide excellent rust protection to bearings, gears and all oil wetted components. This makes it ideal for all major components of 4×4’s, as well as machinery that could be at risk of flooding.
AW10 Antiwear is simply added to the oil of these components, and once coated will provide exceptional rust protection, even in severe environments, such as tested below…
ASTM D665 (Procedure B) Test. Standard steel test strips are immersed in a corrosive oil/sea water mixture at 60C for 24 hrs. A “PASS” requires total absence of any rust. Three oils were tested and all failed. Addition of AW10 Antiwear (at normal commercial rates) to the same oils resulted in a total absence of rust (PASS).
The Cyclic Oven Rust Test also runs for 24hrs at 60C, but introduces 10% exhaust gas condensate to the test oil to provide severe rusting conditions. The 3 oils tested exhibited between 50% and 100% rusted surface area. The same 3 oils treated with AW10 Antiwear at a mere 2% were totally rust free at the end of the 24 hr test.
Of course, AW10 Antiwear is also just what it says…a very effective anti-wear compound that reduces component stress within engines, gear trains, hydraulics, etc.
