My diesel has black oil after an oil change.

One of the most common questions we regularly from owners of diesel engines is, “My diesel engine gets black oil again quickly after I do an oil change… Why is it doing this, and is it normal?” It’s very common, and while a lot of our customers believed it was normal, they soon change their mind after using our Flushing Oil Concentrate.

So what does black oil mean?

Engine oil has five key duties, and one of them is to keep the engine clean. If your diesel oil goes black quickly after an oil change then quite clearly, the engine is definitely not clean and likely to be contaminated with soot and sludgy deposits. This can even happen on low mileage vehicles! Many customers religiously change their oil strictly on schedule, and wonder why theirs still go dirty straight after an oil change? There are probably too many reasons to details here. The best approach is keep a close check on your “oil soot level”.

Testing your Oil Soot Level:

Step 1. Pull the dipstick and wipe some oil on your fingers.
Step 2. Rub the oil between finger and thumb.
Step 3. Wipe the oil off with a rag, and examine your skin. It should be perfectly clean. If it leaves a dark stain on your skin the oil has high soot and cant keep the engine clean.
