Service Station ULP Fuel Additive Treatment Guide

This guide provides clear recommendations for selecting the appropriate fuel treatment product based on the condition of petrol (ULP) dispensing systems at service stations. Suitable for all fuel delivery systems where pump flow rates may be compromised.

Select the appropriate fuel treatment product based on the condition of petrol (ULP) dispensing systems at service stations.

(Diesel Treatments also available)

  • Reduced fuel flow at the bowser
  • Filters blocking
  • Contaminated fuel
  • Varnish
  • Tank Debris / Bottom of tank sediments

Fuel System Conditions & Recommended Actions

Normal Operation (Preventative)

Situation:

  • No issues with flow or filters

Action:

  • Use Cleanpower continuously

Result:

  • Keeps system clean
  • Prevents buildup
  • Reduces maintenance
Early Warning Signs (Act Early)

Situation:

  • Pumps starting to slow
  • Brown debris seen in filters during routine service
  • Flow becoming inconsistent

Action:

  • Start or continue Cleanpower
Key Note: Cleanpower should be used at the first sign of slowing or when brown residue is seen in filters.

Result:

  • Gradual improvement
  • Prevents issue getting worse
  • No disruption to site
Restricted Flow (No Downtime Option)

Situation:

  • Filters starting to block
  • Flow reduced but site must keep operating

Action:

  • Continue Cleanpower

Result:

  • Slower improvement
  • Minimal disruption
  • May require filter checks
Blocked Filters / Severe Restriction

Situation:

  • Filters blocked
  • Heavy brown residue
  • Significant loss of flow

Action (Step-Up Approach):

  • Start with Cleanpower if downtime must be avoided
  • If issues persist or faster cleaning is required → use PMX145
  • Replace filters as required

Result:

  • Cleanpower: gradual improvement with minimal disruption
  • PMX145: faster clean-up and restored flow
Water / Microbial Contamination

Situation:

  • Water present in tank
  • Slime or contamination observed

Action:

  • Remove water
  • Use Kathon 15
Important: Filter change required after initial dose

Result:

  • Eliminates contamination

ULP 91, 95 & 98     (Diesel Additives also available)

Pump Status What You See What To Do Product Expected Result
Normal Everything normal Keep dosing Cleanpower System stays clean
Warning Pumps starting to slow Start treatment Cleanpower Flow improves gradually
Warning Brown residue in filters (during service) Start treatment Cleanpower Prevents buildup getting worse
Warning Flow dropping / inconsistent Continue treatment + monitor filters Cleanpower Stabilises system
Warning Filters blocking but cannot stop pumps Keep running + treat Cleanpower Slow improvement, no disruption
Severe Filters blocking / heavy brown residue Start with Cleanpower → escalate if needed Cleanpower → PMX145 Gradual or fast recovery depending on approach
Severe Filters keep blocking Clean system properly PMX145 System resets, then stabilises
Contamination Water in tank Remove water + treat Kathon 15 Eliminates contamination
No Improvement No improvement Call technician Mechanical issue

Bowser / Filter Check Guide for Additive Use

Product When Using It What To Do With Filters
Cleanpower Normal / early issues No change – check during normal service
Cleanpower Some deposits in system Check filters more often
Cleanpower Blocked system (keeping pumps running) Check filters and change if needed
PMX145 Filters already blocked Change filters immediately
PMX145 First clean on dirty system Check often – change filters as needed
PMX145 After system is clean Back to normal filter schedule

Kathon 15 Initial dose (water/microbial contamination) Check filters and change after initial dose
Kathon 15 Ongoing treatment Check filters and change if needed

Additive Dosage & Best Practice

Cleanpower Dosage: 1:4000

PMX145 Dosage: 1:4000

Kathon 15 Dosage:  1:3300

Best Practice Dosing

Dose additives into tanks just prior to or during refuelling to ensure proper mixing.

Review product data sheets for dosing procedures.

  • Cleanpower = Preventative + first step treatment
  • PMX145 = Escalation for faster corrective cleaning  ( Pump down-time may be required)
  • Kathon 15 = Only for confirmed water / microbial contamination

Recommended Strategy

  1. Maintain system with Cleanpower
  2. At first sign of slowing or brown debris → use Cleanpower
  3. If filters block → start with Cleanpower, then escalate to PMX145 if required
  4. Only use Kathon 15 when water or microbial contamination is confirmed
